Georgia Tech Solar Racing (GTSR) is a nonprofit, student-run organization that designs and builds street-legal solar-powered race cars for track and cross-country competitions around the world. Our mission is to push the cutting edge of hyper-efficient vehicle technology while offering our members real opportunities to improve design, manufacturing, and leadership skills.
Our team of 100+ students come from 14 fields of study and all walks of life, but all share a passion for innovation. Outside of our core engineering and strategy focus, our team also encompasses business, outreach, and race operations. We have a place for any team player with an excitement to learn, irrespective of prior experience.

We are incredibly passionate about developing students who will be leaders in their respective fields, and we devote considerable time to training and skills development. Students of all experience levels are welcomed and will have the opportunity to design and manufacture high-level mechanical, electrical, solar, and financial systems.
Most recently, the team competed with our 4-person vehicle: SR-4 Aurora. After 6 years of designing and testing, SR-4 completed the entire American Solar Challenge 2026 base route without major mechanical or electrical failures. The car drove over 1,600 miles and set a record for most person-miles in event history.
GTSR seeks to promote green technologies and alternative energy in the community. Our outreach efforts include visits to local schools, and displays at various corporate expositions and fairs.
