The Mechanical Team is responsible for the design, fabrication, and testing of all mechanical subsystems. We create the aerobody, frame, suspension, and several other components from scratch, integrating with experts from the academic, entrepreneurial, and corporate communities to make an excellent car. We pride ourselves on training all our members to accomplish great engineering feats using advanced analysis techniques to push forward the exciting field of alternative energy automobiles.
Mechanical Division Leads
Sean Breton
Mechanical LeadSean is a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering major from Hattiesburg, MS. As the Mechanical Lead, he is responsible for all mechanical systems on our vehicles. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar, cooking, and laying in the sun.
Albin Darby
Suspension LeadAlbin Darby is a second-year Mechanical Engineering major with minors in Materials Science and Chinese. He’s in charge of suspension design, manufacturing, assembly and integration. He researched polymer recycling and degradation in the Brettmann Lab, and is a member of SGA’s sustainability committee. Albin loves reading, writing fiction, sustainable tech startups, and playing the saxophone.
Lakshya Mehta
Aerobody LeadLakshya is a third-year Mechanical Engineering student from Greensboro, NC. As Aerobody Lead, Lakshya is responsible for the design and manufacturing of the carbon fiber exterior of the car. Outside of solar, he enjoys playing sports, music, and spending time with friends.
Brendis Kasharaj
Steering & Brakes LeadBrendis leads the Steering & Brakes subteam, overseeing the design, analysis, and fabrication of the vehicle steering geometry, pedal assembly, and hydraulic braking systems for safe and responsive handling.
Kartik Menke
Frame LeadKartik Menke is a Mechanical Engineering student currently in his second year at Georgia Tech. Leading the Frame team, his primary responsibility is the rigid, load-bearing structure inside the aerodynamic outer shell of the car, somewhat akin to the car’s solid “skeleton.” His interests include swimming, playing the piano, and learning languages, and he is even pursuing a minor in German, hoping to study abroad in Berlin.
